An expert tells you why: Sympatico is via ADSL while Rogers is via HFC Cable modem. ADSL has QoS guaranteed while Cable modem doesn't. Sympatico's users must have get a certain fixed speed (1.5M, 512k, etc.).An expert tells you why:

不管是DSL还是Cable都是解决local loop的接入问题，DSL的QoS对于WWW等Internet的应用意义也就不大了。因为用户就算不在local loop一段争带宽，也一定在某一段争带宽的。瓶颈总是会有的。 -beavis(brian); 2002-4-20 (#471244@0)

但是cable modem 的瓶颈有两个，一个是local 的，一个是internet的，但adsl 没有local 问题。我原来用cable modem, 同一测试网站凌晨测试和晚上速度差了3倍。而用adsl, 测了很多次了，范围在1.18--1.22之间，很稳定。 -kevin2000(流星雨-每天进步一点); 2002-4-20 (#471251@0)

我只是想说明DSL的QoS不能解释稳不稳定，而不是要比较DSL和Cable哪一个更好。实际上也比较不了，测试环境都不完全一样，测出来的数字提供一个参考而已。 -beavis(brian); 2002-4-20 (#471259@0)
