mysql uses 80/20 rule to develop the system. they only focused those functions which are used at 80% time to gain lighting fast speed. as trade off, it lacks of some sophiscated functions.

The version(2.5?) I was looking at did NOT support: sub sql, transaction, trigger, bla bal... you think those falls into the 20 part? ^_^

80/20 is their intention, but it takes time for a product to be mature enough for production use. some features fell into gray area, for complicated system, they are frequently to use.

anything could happen in the future, what was the linux market share 3 or 4 years ago? i am not against commercial product at all, but open source product does bring a lot of impact.

我想你一直没有搞明白选择数据库的第一关键是什么？不是便宜，是稳妥可靠，万无一失。数据的损失是任何公司负担不起的。所以，绝大多数公司在选择数据库的时候，一定是选择商业产品。而且，未来在LINUX上的主流数据庫产品我想也不是你评测的，应该很有可能是DB2
