  • Help, how to find a RN job?
I graduated this year, and passed CRNE. However, I haven't found a job yet. I tried HFO, but no response. It is very frustrated. If you found a RN job this year, please give me some tips. Thank you very much.
    • try job fair, or HR from the hospital that you like
      • I tried too, but no response either. Which hospital has job fair? +1
        • where are you? are u in Ontario? if you joined the new graduates program, you are supposed to have at least 6 months full time job after you graduate if you are RN.
          • I am in Ontario. I took part in the new grads initiative program. The thing is...
it works only after you find a job. I sent a lot of resumes to different hospitals and units. Nobody called me to have an interview. I do not know what is wrong. Anybody faces the same situation with me?
            • How long have you started to find a job?
            • where did you do your consolidation? i heard some students got the jobs from the units where they finish the IP. are u in toronto? i heard from my teacher that a lot of hospitals have been stopping to recruit nurses now. .
              • in toronto, no new grads have got job offer from their IP units this year. are u looking for full time or part time? i think there are some part time jobs available and some casual hours
                • it is very hard to get a job, part time or full time, even casual job, further more, no interview for most of my friends. What happen to nursing job?
        • you may try some clinics or nursing homes first, then try hospitals after when you are working if you do not like clinics or nursing homes. i did like that. it was easy way to jump to hospitals.
    • Thanks for all of the responses.
    • same in Calgary, only 40% new grads RN can get a job (including nursing home), actually hospital freeze hiring now due to deficit. lots of new grads move to BC to get jobs, bad news, hope this situation can change.

    • Try nursing home
It's more easy to find a job in nursing home, clinic. It may be something wrong with your resume if there is no reponse from employers at all. Have somebody check on your resume and cover letter
    • my personal experience
When I graduated 2 years ago I sent my resumes through HFO, but got no respons either until one day a employer emailed me that they were interested in me but please send the resume as my resume wasnot attached to the email. Can you imagine, I have been sending job applications without a resume, if you are the employers and getting thousands of applications every day, would you bother to ask me to attach my resume? I just don't know how it happened but it happens. After I sent my resume via my own email and interviews came in and got offers. Think of every step, is there anything goes wrong? like leave the wrong number? resume can't be opened by the employer?

Good luck with your job searching! I believe you will find a job soon as nusres are still short around. Don't forget to share your experice after you get a job
    • Some nurse worked about 30 years said it's very difficult to find RN job 10 years ago, after all, the most needed jobs are maids and nanny.
