Unfortunately, we have to respect one's decision, and donot take this email personally. Donation is a personal matter and getting someone to donate is an organizational matter.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛When you see people standing in front of Walmart for donation, you must remember that they are all in uniform, with badges. The reason is that they are trying hard to identify themselve as an organization, to claim that the donation is an organizational behaviour, not private. But the decision still is yours. Since the people ask for donation work for an organization, they donot react to your choice personally.

When we email people at work for this matter, first of all, we consider those people who you have chosen special, then, we had an expectation from them. When they responded differently to our expectation, we might take it personally. Results discribed in many emails have shown the dispointment, disbelieving and getting hurt. that is why it is not the way to do it.

I do what I believe the right thing to do. If one believes what I believe one might have donated, if not, I respect individual's decision. To maximize donation we must present ourselve with an organization, well use media to carry our voice over the society. You may recall that you have seen or heard donation commercial on newspaper or in air every other day. That is the way to it, in my opinion.

  • I sent a lot email to employees in my company. This is an email response from one of employee in my company . what do you think about it?
As far as I am concerned, China has enough resources to look after their own.

Burma needs more help. As China has supported the Burmese junta to suppress the people of Burma, we should not provide any aide to China until their human rights record improves.

Please remove me from your mailing list
    • let me know his email and I will give him a lesson...
      • What kind of lesson? You do not have right to force others to donate. That is not donation. That is robbery. By the way, did you donate anything for the earthquate in Iran, Taiwan and Japan, or the Tsunami South Asia or the cyclone in Burma?
        • I didn't say that I will force him "DONATE" and I will tell your detail about the lesson if you give me your email...
          ...
    • s/he did the right thing!
      • Why he/she is right?. Humaritarian aids and political dispute are two seperate issues. If you mix those two, there is literally no disater can be helped since there are polital and human rights disputes almost everywhere.
      • How about next time when Canada needs help, people come up and say:"okay, I am not helping you until the day you have solved all first nation, head tax, and Quebec problems, etc..etc...".
      • Your soul is as dark as devil. Everyone knows that 'Human Right' improvement needs time. NOW, People are dying on a deadly natural disaster. You don't want to give a hand for these people right now, but talk about 'Human Right'.
      • Are you a Chinese ?
      • I think she/he is simply an asshole. Whenever you are asked to pledge some money, you can make a pledge, small or large, or say no politely. There is no need to be harsh on anyone.
        • exactly
        • I don't care others reactions. I think its our duty to let everyone here hear our voice,
let them know we are an united nationality, we all care about each others, we are proud of our country. I'll email our company's CEO to hold a fund raising in our company anyway.
    • Burma junta welcomes all international aids as long as those countries and aid orgs don't put the overthrowing of junta on their agenda. It's that simple!
      • is there anybody have good english and want argue with that guy? I will email back
        • Please don't argue with such trash since you use a company email resource there. It might hurt you.
          • i dont agree with you, why u call that guy trash?
            • he might not be trash, but he's definitely a racist and an asshole!
            • what do you think about those stupid canadians and americans who attack China for our "Human Right" issue, while watching their troops killing/bombing in Iraq.
            • And what do you think about him if you don't agree that he is a trash?!
        • I think ingoring this email is the best way to response.
          • Agree
    • S/he has his/her own political opinions and you can do nothing about it.
      • yes. everyone has the right to their own opinion. For me, that email is ok. we cannot force anyone to follow us..right now, the bottom line is we should stand our ground and let more chinese offer help
        • Unfortunately, I can not agree with you.
        • It is not about whether he can voice his opinion. It is about what he said in his email - it's completely against humanity while he blamed China for it's Human Rights.
        • He indicates that Chinese people should be punished simply because western countries (and western people such as himself) are not happy with China's "Human Rights" issue. It is purely malicious! - What about the human rights of Iraq people?
        • He doesn't need to offer help. But it's absolutely wrong and evil to see innocent people suffering while telling a Chinese that these people should not be helped!
连台湾都肯捐,what's the big deal u comment about chinese gov??
          • support you!
    • If I were you, I would reply as follows:
To me, humanitarian action and politics are two separate issues. I can't see those people, especially children in the quake area dying and do nothing. Anyway, thanks for letting me know what you think. I may not agree with you but I respect your opinion.
      • DIng! We need to learn how to deal with such situation at least. This reply seems proper for me.
      • ding, this reply is really good
      • great! learned!
    • ”China has enough resources “
    • just forget about it and move on doing what you think is right. if the donation is volunteer [i personally donated 300 so far], no anger, no argue, no pressure.
China has enough resources to look after their own是当地大多数人的想法

    • To educate them, need better logic. Use this very short line: Thanks for letting me know your choice of putting politics before humanity. You will be removed from my list.
      • Let me ask you a question? Did you donate anyting for Burma? If you did not, are you a person that lack of humanity?
        • "we should not provide any aide to China until their human rights record improves." ???
        • Read my line and please use better logic. Did I accuse of him not donating? NO! I'm accusing him putting politics before humanity.
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛lc02fm sent an email to colleagues to ask help. In most cases if people don't approve or not afford to simply will take no action. But they will acknowledge the goodwill and nice intention of the initiator so they will not argue.

But this his/her colleague actually walked extra miles to show his bias.

To answer your question, I didn't donate to Burma. But my wife and I did to many local activities, also for some Chinese families. No, not donating doesn't mean inhuman. If one can deeply feel the pain of the victims, I would appreciate. As a father of a one-year-old, I did feel the pain of those who lost families, no matter Burma or Sichuan.

Lots of people don't donate for different reasons, and that's totally fine with me. I don't classify people by donating or not. But I do classify people if they show sympathy without any kinds of bias. That's a important line to distinguish human kind from …

As far as you, bighorse(bighorse), you should read carefully to know the point before initiating a fight.
          • Calm down. I do not want to start a fight. I agree with most of what you said. People have their own reasons whether or not to donate .
For this person, his reason is he does not like China's human right record. You might think his reason is invalid but that does not make him inhumane. Personaly I think his email is rude. If the LZ reply to him as you suggested, that will make LZ more rude that him. Don't forget it is the LZ who send unsolicit email to him first. I also think a lot of other people at that company might think the same way. They are just silent. If you read any comments by ordinary Canadians, you would know that a lot of people share his opinion.
            • I'm pretty cool. Don't worry. If a person thinks Chinese should suffer just because he doens't approve Chinese goverment, that's enough for me to think him inhumane.
No doubt he is rude, and he doesn't hesitate to show that.

Depends on company culture, sending this type of email is pretty common in some companies. it's not "unsolicit" at all. On earth it's charity.
Anyway I wouldn't suggest LZ left his rubbish colleague unreplied. If LZ also felt my previously suggestion is too intense, reply him "You are off my list", nothing else, no best regards, no sorry, no name. He will get the message.
      • The problem is how to eliminate western countries people's mind about china is evil, no human rights, etc.
        • what do you mean? You think china do has human rights?
          • As far as I can tell, China's human rights situation has been steadily improving, although there are problems exist. How do you expect such a big country, which just opened up to the world not very long ago, to change dramatically
in a short period time? Unfortunately, some policies have to be there to maintain the stability of the whole country.
          • western media is so biased that when they see Tibetans burning cars, shops, beating the Chinese, they say it's because Tibetans human rights are not protected.
          • Let me ask you this, if someone start burning cars, beating people in Toronto, in New York, are they not terrorists? While you talk about the human rights of the terrorists, have you considered the human rights of the majority people?
          • And how about let's talk about the human rights issue in US?
            • 1. their invasion to Iraq . Canada did the same - have they ever talked about the human rights of the Iraqis?
            • 2. their highest incarceration rate in the world - and how do you explain the fact that 1 in every 100 american adults is behind bars, while one in 15 adult black men is behind bars?
            • 3. what about the cruel deportation of illegal mexican workers - for which, Mexico’s President has denounced the U.S. Government’s increased deportation of Mexican nationals to his country as “a crime against humanity.”
            • 4. what about the fact that US is the top provider on weapons sales list ?
            • 5. and what about the fact that US is responsible for 46% of the world total military spending?
          • And I want to ask you, what makes you so unhappy about China? While most Chinese here talking about how to help our country, you are picking on China about the human rights issue?
另外,千万别让你的孩子在西方长大,否则将来你还要努力去eliminate his/her mind about china ....
    • My reply to your collegue's email:
"Your reply gave a deep chill to my heart. Did you realize what you are saying? Let's put it in a more close to home simple analogy:

You disapprove the way your neighbour runs his house, especially the way he treats his children. You talked to him a few times and tried to make him doing what you think are right. He ignored you. Now his house is on fire. The children are trapped inside crying for help. You looked out of the window and decided: "I don't like his attitude when I talked to him in the past. Plus, I think he's got enough money to rebuild the house after the fire. And the fire truck is on their way too. Now I am going back to my beer and hockey game now."

I don't think this would be your response. Whether you lend your hand to China or not, I appreciate you take the time to reply.
