Premier Christy Clark explained on Wednesday why she defied pollsters’ predictions and won Tuesday’s B.C. election: Concern over the economy, the NDP flip-flop on Kinder Morgan, and the private nature of one’s vote. The Post‘s Brian Hutchinson offers six reasons of his own why Ms. Clark won the province, but lost her own Vancouver riding:

1) She put fear into hearts, with a smile on her face
Most voters pay nominal attention to issues; they follow their hearts and guts. Jean Chrétien knew this. So does the secretly, shrewdly sensitive Stephen Harper. And of course Christy Clark. Following her campaign to become Liberal leader two years ago, Ms. Clark stuck closely to her “families first” message, presenting to all her caring, maternal side. Then she became a single mother with whom some people wanted to sup. Over the 28-day election campaign, Ms. Clark played it tough, warning voters that an NDP government led by Adrian Dix would ruin the province’s economy and tear families apart. She spread fear with a smile on her face and a spring in her step, and that’s not easy to pull off. Mr. Dix tried to appeal to reason, offering one new policy after another during his campaign tour. The NDP’s slogan, “Change for the Better, One Practical Step at a Time,” began to sound like a long mountain trek with a dispassionate Dip.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
