Well, write your interest of getting a designation on your resume (or CGA level 3 equivalent). Or even better, enroll in 1 of the professional associations. Or continue with your studies part time/distance/online at a University.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛With CGA level 3, you should be able to find an entry level job. Searching for a job takes time; in fact, you should treat it as a full time job. Some pointers:

1) Send at least 10+ resume out a day.
2) If you know someone that are currently working, you should ask that person to see if there are openings because most companies will put up internal postings
3) Don't be afraid of using the job/placement agencies, they will try to find you a job. However, you will be tested on Excel, Access, Accounting software and some technical questions. So if you have done SMS515 at Seneca, you will have some ideas on what they will be testing you on, because that course was developed in collaboration with AccoutTemp. But don't think you know everything, the Excel and Access materials in that course is below elementary at my standard.
4) Drop by Seneca’s career office and see what they can help you with (ie: fix up your resume etc..)
5) Send resume to companies even though they don’t have postings. You might get lucky as one person leaves and they wanted someone to fill the position fast. Then you might be their target.

But seriously, get your resume fixed up first and then prepare a cover letter for each job you applies to. However, some companies don’t look at your cover letter, only your resume.

As for me, I am currently working as an Accounting Clerk in a Medium to Small Company. Found that job within 1 month upon graduation from Seneca. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to A/P, A/R, Bank Reconciliation, Sales tax filing, income statement preparation. The job is easy and boring but intensive (heavy workload), even a high school drop-out can do it. Right now I am searching for a new job; hopefully it will be a challenging one, where I can actually apply some of my Excel knowledge and brain.

I wanted to speed up the academic process, so I enrolled in Athabasca University (AU), CGA and Laurentian University (LU) concurrently trying to finish up a degree and the academic portion of the CGA program. My plan is to take partial level 4 courses at CGA and partially will be done at AU. LU will provide the Business courses necessary to finish up the degree, and then I will finish up PACE level at CGA. It’s good that I have done EAC694, because that course prepares me for all these long and boring CGA/AU/LU assignments.

        • Well, if you go on to the AIT route, you will be strictly limited to the CGA designation. However, the IAF program is very very expensive, even more expensive than regular University Tuition
If you complete the IAF program, and happen to get a job in a CA firm with an articling position (which is almost impossible), you are on your way to get the CA designation. If not, you can always go back to CGA.

I have done massive researches on post-ACF options before I even I graduated in 2007. I know how you feels and Yes, I graduated from ACF in the year of 2007.
          • what is your option after graduation? Do you find a job in a short time? or doing something else?

              • Thanks so much. You are much better than in English writing. I will try to fix my resume first.
