York- will only give so little even if you have all A's on your transcript. You will be granted a lot of Elective credits; however, they will minimize the core (major) credit transferred (ie: you will be required to do Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2 again, as well as statistics and other courses such as Finance). It may say you have been granted 48 transfer credits; however, it does not mean you will graduate in 2 and a half years, you may take you around 3 years due to the pre-requisites for the major courses.
Seneca- will not be as strict as York because they recognize their own education standards; therefore, the courses I have mentioned above will most likely be transferred.
2) Recognition Issues:
York's degree in Administrative Studies is a fully accredited 4-year University degree which meets all the criteria for admission to Master programs. Barriers does not exist for you to pursue further education such as obtaining the CGA, CMA, or CA designations.
Seneca's Applied degree program is relevantly new in Canada; therefore, pursuing higher education beyond undergraduate may not be as easily accessible as traditional University degree. CGA and CA recognizes the degree as meeting the degree requirement; there are no updates on CMA-Ontario's website.
3) Cost
Overall, College degrees are more expensive than University degrees (under regulated fee). However, since you will be getting more transfer credits from Seneca, it has no significant impact on the cost.
Well for the most transfer credit possible for a 3-year Business diploma from a College, Athabasca University offers 75 block transfer credits for people with a 3-year College Business diploma from Ontario to their Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Commerce programs with no major. You will be required to complete 45 more credits which is only 15 courses away. Athabasca University (AU) specializes in distance education, most of their courses are offered online.
