don't know about IMD

but INSEAD doesn't worth it. One of my classmates got an offer from INSEAD after got into Rotman part-time program. I watched him struggling between going to INSEAD and continue to stay in Rotman. He finally decided to stay in Rotman. One year after, he still feel he made the right decision. When Rotman's grads compete with INSEAD'S grads when hunting the same job, INSEAD doesn't seem to have any advantage. In fact, when coming to good jobs such as strategy consulting, Rotman seem to be able to beat INSEAD.

MBA (specialized in finance),part-time, 是该去Rotman还是Schulich? Thanks!
        • hahaha!
        • Fiance 是什么啊,是不是fi·an·cé ,我看字典上解释是a man engaged to be married; a man to whom a woman is engaged.
    • I assume that you are well established. If it is the case, I doubt if there is any difference for you. If you you really want some change go for full time MBA NYC, Columbia, HBS, or Wharton. That's to say go for Wall Street.
Shulick and Rodman are both nice schools. But ask yourself if they will provide you the opportunity. If not, either will just be another deco, without real value. It really depends each individual.
        • How about INSEAD or IMD in Europe? It is one year full time program.

            • I think it depends on where to work? From the Salary point of view, top MBA in Europe is higher than top MBA in Canada. If your friend hunt his job in Canada, Rotman is better.
In the global MBA ranking, Rotman is even behind CEIBS(Zhong OU) in China.

              • exactly
that's why GPA means everything to Rotman grad. if not listed on the Dean's list, you can get only an average job. meaning earning an average salary. The mean of the first year full-time grads' salary is around 85k, with a highest 160K and lowest around 60k. 98% grades find a job within the first month after graduation. The industry you get in largely decided your salary. Strategy/management consulting and finance are at the top of the list, with 100k minimum first year and almost unlimited potential in the following years. There is a book "the best jobs in Bay street", which summarizes the best job opportunities in finance industry, may be worth to read.
Rotman publishes its grads' income stats every year.
                • not correct, 001isbetter(不唧歪不婆妈妈的肉联) from rotman
其实读个MBA也就是为了build up a professional (alumni) network,是不是Rotman比Schulich 更好些呢?
        • Are you implying that the alumni of Rotman are better that those of Schulich? If you got that kind of idea from someone from Schulich, it will probably the case. Otherwise, how can it be justified?
There are so many factors. The best way to make a decision is probably to flip a coin.
          That's not helpful, I guess.
          • Flip a coin, that might be a good idea, haha (just kidding). Don’t get me wrong, that’s not what I meant and in fact that was just my question rather a comment.
            • I think alumni network from both school are good
since I faced the same question a year ago, here are some factors I considered. Hope it helps.
              1) the salary after graduation
              2) strength in majors. Overall, Schulich seems to have better reputation in marketing, while Rotman is in Finance and increasingly good in consulting.
              3) opinions from some managers and I know. Asked their overall impression about these two schools.
the factors I didn't weight much:
              1) tuition
              2) ranking
              3) Alumni's opinion. They all are too bias.
              • Thanks much for sharing. So which MBA program/ school did you choose at the end? Also, what is the salary range for the first year graduate from both schools?
                • I put the Rotman's salary range in the previous reply (the one with title 'exactly')
I could only find one year salary stats for schulich, which was a few years back. The mean was around 75k and lowest is within 50k range. I verified this info with one of the spoken person from schulich in the perspective student 2007 event. The answer was interesting: he didn't believe the gap was 10k, but 6k instead. As I Schulich seems not to publish its salary stats, I assumed it didn't look pretty.
                  I end up choosing Rotman.
                  • That's interesting and good to know. Thanks again for sharing the information.
