I am studying Network Security now. If you even don't know TCP/IP, I think

you need at least one year assume you spend all of your time on study.

I just passed my checkpoint test-CCSE and started to find job, until now I have no result. In addition I have experience and certificates of CCNP, MCSE, MCDBA even MCSD.

Without Cisco, Microsoft and Solaris knowledge and certificates, It is impossible to learn network security.

Remember, network security engineer is fight against haker. if there are people understand computer and network deeply than a haker? It is the top of IT field.

        我沒有指望在近期找這樣的工作﹐知道自己還差得太遠。是不是Network Security Engineer 是從 System Admin 開始的?以後請多多執教。

          OS is basic, the point is TCP/IP, you'd better get CCNP, Then you can study firewall, VPN, encryption/PKI, IDS, Scanner ....
          It need you have strong knowledge of more than 10 venders' productions.
          Is it hard?
          As MCSE, You only need know microsoft.
