Go for it as long as you really love it

if you really want to do, there is nothing that would be able to hold you back. I suppose your english is good. Just go ahead. Nursing is more about communication rather than nursing skills. You can try some second-entry program in various university, which only take you two years to be a nurse. Otherwise you have to register a nursing program from college and study it for four years to be eligible to write the national exam to be a nurse.

The job market is so hot now. the pay is good and work environment is improving. Chinese population does not have proportionally demographic nurses in Toronto. Nursing is never hard for us to learn even though you don't have medical backgroud. From my own experience, you only need to spend one year to get used to it, I mean, clinical things. Yes getting in is a little difficult but still is not as hard as getting in some fancy program.

    • There is no nurse program in college.

GO FOR IT!
      • it's not an easy goal. you'd better ask more people for the detail about the job. I heard it's not as good as our imagination.
      • And it's really an very important decision for a newcomer. Take time and do more research which is worthy enought. Otherwise, you could waste both time and money, especially time.
      • How about your physical health? Can you work long hours (perhaps overnight shift) under stress? Just because many people go for it doesn't mean it is the right thing for you as well.
        • good questions !
      • since your english is good enough, why do you waste time on education. get a job since you are already 40!! nursers are NOT well paid.
        • My English is not good enough compared with the Canadians.what's more, I dont know anything else except English. He who just masters English can get a job here?Anyway, I valued advice from all of you. You are right.Dont rush into things.
          • " He who just masters English can get a job here?" Of couse, such as teaching English as the Second Language after you get the certificate, or working in call centres stuff like that. Just get a job to start with
to see what you need to improve yourself.
