Thanks for the invitation. I appreciate it.

I am sure we will meet at one point of our lives. My e_mail: harry_a_liu@yahoo.com

My advice for you is still to focus on your LSAT preparation. Your score will be a critical factor in your law school application. Once you have your LSAT score, you would know your chance for admission. Moreover you need a good score to boost your confidance.

As I said earlier, you won't feel time wasted even if you decide later on that law is not for you. You will benefit through your life with good English and logic thinking.

You can check out www.mitbbs.com and find the BBS section for lawyers. There are a nember of Chinese students studying law in the US. The air over there is more encoraging.
What you need is not advice but success examples. You will find enough there.

Again thanks for offering the visit. And I wish you success.

Harry.

    • I am kind of interested. What is your backgound? Law school is pretty much expensive. Addtionally, it is high demaning at English proficiency compared to other professions. What do you think?
      • my major is not law,but when i studied in the graduate school, i prepared for china's lawyer exam. came w/year, she need pay the mortgage),these days i am thinking it. keep in touch
my major is not law,but when i studied in the graduate school, i prepared for china's lawyer exam. came to canada 1.5 yrs ago, this year we bought a house, now i wanna go to study to realize my dream, but i heard tuition is a big problem, ( my wife 's salary is about 5.5 w/year, she need pay the mortgage),these days i am thinking it. keep in touch
        • hi, you can check the pm. I left somemessage for you. Actually, I think you can go back to school because you are young.
However, I believe chinese law and canadian law is quite different because of the culture and the value. I think learning a diploma is much more pratical than getting a degree. I think you can go to college instead of going to university. If you want to run a law firm, you may have to get more certificates and credits. Otherwise, you can work for the lawyers. Most of the chinese lawyers are from Hong Kong. They all expect you to speak both Manderin, cantonese, Engish. Don't forget, you have to deal with customers. Working for the western lawyer may reuire you to speak, listen, type, spell English like a local canadian. Those situations really block our way to find a job. What do you think? let me know your feeling.
          • u r right,to some degree, english is always our disadvantage compared with canadian, at the same time,
u r right,to some degree, english is always our disadvantage compared with canadian, at the same time, 2nd lanaguage is our asset ,too. i mean, more and more immigrant come to here, as u said, most of them came from hongk ong, ---cantonese, .

it all depends, when i bought a house, i didn't use a hong kong born agent.

            pls check your PM, too.
        • Hi, David, Why don't you just go step by step and see where you are led? Otherwise it's going to remain a dream for you.
I don't think money would be an issue here. Take LSAT and apply for law schools. You could get a loan after you are admitted.
Improve your English if you need to. You have to get things done.
        • So, you are just 30. I am 38. I hope you don't wait until my age. Got my point?
          • thanks,Harry, i got your points, actually last week i went to the immigrant centre ( i am still new immigrant, hehe), one of the employer expert asked me, "if u turn 80, and will u have regrets that u didn't study law? then, u find your answer

these days i am working on it in my spare time.
            thx for your encouragement.
            • Excellent! Just focus yourself on next step. Solve one problem at a time. Keep pushing yourself. It's going to be hard but not impossible. You still have plenty of time at age 30.
              • thx, harry, these days when i have time, i log on the university's website to read their rules in detail, now i know ,actually
thx, harry, these days when i have time, i log on the university's website to read their rules in detail, now i know ,actually they like to accept some minorities because one of their principles is equality/fair/give people who is underrepresented... plus, my GPA is No.1 when i studied in university,--- which is an important fact to weight to get admission.
now i am preparing for LSAT,..
              • after i get my offer, i will invite u to my house to have dinner,haha;
                • Thanks for the offer. It will deserve a celebration for sure.
But one thing at a time. First get your LSAT down and see where your score can possibly get you; then apply for law schools, finance for it, study hard and graduate, article, finally call to the bar. It will take years of hard work. But assure you: you will be improving yourself on the journey. Even if you change your mind at a point, you will find yourself be well equiped from the efforts for other kinds of career. You will be a better person everyday anyways. Just keep your dream alive and pursuit it.

There are Chinese lawyers in the US who got their first education in China. If somebody else can do it, you can. It is a matter of choice.

Keep me posted on your progress. Maybe we could meet at a point-hopfully in a law school or a law firm.

                  Lots of lucks to you.

                • A liitle advice if you don't mind. Watch out your gammar whatever you write and make it a habit. You have to have fine writings as a lawyer. Keep the standard up.
                  • thanks, you're right, actully it's a long time i haven't practising writing, seems it's high time for me to back on the right track NOW.

thx, i put that website to my favorite already; you are rigth, just like i prepared for the lawyers' test in china when i was a graduate student, althought after my graduation i chose another filed yet i learnt a lot about the law, plus, i made many friends who are lawyers now in china.
                          finally i choose law AGAIN.
                          • interested
                      • Forget about finacial problem for now.
Too much thinking of the difficulties will amplify them and discorage you. Focus on the bright side. You will find a way of financing your law school after you are admitted. Everybody, including Canadian students, has the same problem. You are at the same starting line with everybody else money concerned. Check our MITBBS and find what other Chinese students think. At least you don't have immigartion problem in Canada comparing with them. Don't let your chance go.
                      • Thanks a lot for your invitation. I appreciate it.
My live messange is smile_814@hotmail.com. You can also add me. I have found one lady who has studied law clerk in college. I think she already graduated. I am still waiting for her reply for more information. I notice that a lot of law learner majored in English when they were undergraduates. English is a huge issue for everyone who want to persuit a career in this field. I believe the people who have already taken the law courses will clarify our concerns. I will share it with you whenevern I got it.
                        • maybe because it's my first time to do the Analytical reasoning part , some of the questions are hard to answer, anyone is preparing for LSAT now?
                          • Hi, guy, what's your GPA in University? if it's above 3.6. then there is a chance. I just try to for get about LSAT and go to college. the Obstacle is really tremendous. wish you luck.
                            • thx, my GPA is No.1 in my class ( i went to graduate school without exam because of my excellent undergraudate marks). how about u? are u preparing for LSAT now?
                              • Obviously it's a good start.
However, I don't think your past GPA would be a great deal. The key is still LSAT. If you get a 170+ on LSAT, you will have a good chance for Osgood Hall and you will be almost garanteed a seat in a North Amercan law school. That's what I love about law school admission: you can forget about your past. It's really a one-exam thing, which most Chinese love most.

So how was your second try-out on LSAT?
                                • right. anyway, i hope GPA would weight more ( that would give me less pressure when i took LSAT test); actually, i will try my best to prepare for it' now every day i spend 1 hours at least to prepare for it ( weekends, usually 6 - 8 hours /day
                                  • Hi, Man. It's not really my business but seems to me that you don't have a clear vision of your situation. I can't help to speak up a bit more.
Your hope (and mine) for law school is purely on a competitive LSAT score. Fortunately enough most law schools will make their decisions based on LSAT. Your GPA won't give you too much leverage if you don't have a stunning LSAT score. We are talking about law school admission and you are competing with the very top students. How many people will have low GPA anyways. How's your second trial of LSAT?
                                    • actually i know that-------- that's the reason why every day i try to prpeare for LSAT in my spare t
actually i know that-------- that's the reason why every day i try to prpeare for LSAT in my spare time----what i wanna say is that--i hope it can alleviate my exam/preparation anxiety.
trust me,every time i read your suggestion and i would copy to my computer.
                                    • my 2nd trial is a little better, but still it is not good as expected :(
                                      • How old are you?
                          • pls check this link www.prep.com
                            • thx, very helpful; i found many good websites through this link, thanks a lot
