Exciting Telecom Equipment company is in need of an Embedded Software Director for their China R&D center. My client is a public company with a secure footing in China. Client is looking for an expatriate who is fluent in Mandarin to direct a team of 70 to 100 software engineers who develop embedded software (VxWorks) for next generation network IP based Softswitch, edge router, media gateway. The product contains a wide array of leading edge LAN and WAN interfaces, packet processing and switching technologies. Initial and system design is executed in Alameda CA and product migration path for development and deployment in China. Your strong expertise in telecom equipment models and technologies is needed for this effort. You will specify and enforce the technology, the development environment and the development methodology for embedded software across multiple products. You will manage all day-to-day activities of this department including developing specs/schedules related to product development. Develop, modify, manage design processes to ensure good practices are being implemented and the department is functioning with efficacy and that proper documentation is produced and maintained. Provide presentations and written plans, specs and other papers to communicate all aspects of software activities to exec management in ShenZhen China and California. To be successful you will need:
10+ years experience managing development teams
RTOS, Unix.
Experience with embedded systems development, real time kernels, drivers, VoIP protocols, network processors, IP
BSCS/EE and 15 years relevant experience with 10 years of leadership of large groups of engineers
C++, structured analysis, design and project management tools.
Strong written and verbal communicator.
Mandarin speaking and writing
Market driven, customer focused and fully committed to executing tight schedules.
